Court Rejects Meadows' Attempt to Move Georgia Election Interference Case

Federal Appeals Court Panel Upholds Lower Court Decision

Former White House Chief of Staff's Request Denied

A federal appeals court panel has denied former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows' request to move his Georgia election interference case to federal court. The panel upheld the decision of a lower court judge who had previously denied Meadows' motion.

Meadows, who served as chief of staff to former President Donald Trump, is facing charges in Georgia related to his alleged attempts to interfere in the 2020 presidential election. Prosecutors accuse Meadows of pressuring Georgia election officials to overturn the results of the election, which Trump lost to Joe Biden.

Meadows had argued that his case should be moved to federal court because the charges against him are related to his work as a federal employee. However, the appeals court panel ruled that the charges against Meadows are not sufficiently related to his federal employment to warrant a transfer of the case to federal court.

The panel's decision is a setback for Meadows, who had hoped to have his case moved to a more favorable jurisdiction. It is unclear at this time whether Meadows will appeal the panel's decision to the full Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
